摘要:In this paper, the degradation of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) in aqueous solution by ozonation using manganese ore (MO) as catalyst was studied. From the preliminary results, MO could significantly enhance the degradation efficiency of 4-CF by ozonation. The final total organic carbon removal percentage (TOCR%) of 4-CF solution treated by O-3/MO was up to approximately 64%. The effect of MO dosage, MO particle size and reaction time were discussed and the optimum values were 2 g/L, 20-mesh and 20 mm, respectively. Intermediates analysis indicated that hydroquinone (HQ) was the main intermediate during the degradation process and some small molecular organic acids, such as succinic acid (SA), still existed in the final solution, suggesting the mineralization was not complete. The enhancement of ozonation by MO could contribute to its adsorption and oxidation of 4-CP, and subsequently promoting O-3 to produce hydroxyl radicals (-OH) through dissolved Mn2+. Considering its high effect and low cost, MO might be used as a cost-effective catalyst in the ozonation.
